20 Minute, No-butter Biscuits

IMG_0305  IMG_0304 Biscuits are perfect with jam or honey for breakfast, tea, lunch, or dinner! We like to eat them with a curry sauce with tuna, peas, and carrots, for dinner. Yum! I found this recipe from foodnetwork.co.uk and it’s perfect when I don’t want to make biscuits with butter!

Oven Temperature: 450˚F
Baking Time: 8-10 min.
Makes: 8 2.5 inch biscuits
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
2/3 cup buttermilk or milk
10 teaspoons vegetable oil
Preheat oven to 450°F. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar. In a small bowl, stir together buttermilk and oil. Pour over flour mixture; stir until well mixed. On a lightly floured surface, knead dough gently for 10 to 12 strokes. Roll or pat dough to 3/4-inch thickness. Cut with a 2-inch biscuit or cookie cutter, dipping cutter in flour between cuts. Transfer biscuits to an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm and enjoy!
